• Interim Maintenance: Descale (if required), valve checks, pressure calibration every 6-12 months if usage is high.

High-End Home Espresso Machines (La Marzocco, Rocket, ECM, etc.)

• Full Service: Every 12-18 months depending on water quality and usage.

• Routine Cleaning: Back flush weekly, descale every 6 -18 months unless using filtered water.

PSSR 2000 Boiler Inspections: Legal Requirements in the UK

If your espresso machine has a pressure vessel (boiler) operating above 0.5 bar, which most commercial espresso machines operate between 1 – 15 bar , UK law requires a Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR 2000) inspection.
This includes:

• Written Scheme of Examination (WSE)

• Inspection and Certification

Recommended every 12-14 months for insurance compliance.
